With the new EBSCO Interface, do I need to update EBSCO links in my Blackboard Course?

Answer

In order to ensure all of the features of the new EBSCO database interface worked properly EBSCO database URLs needed to be updated:

  • Old EBSCO links will still work for accessing articles and databases and will automatically redirect to the new interface.
  • However, if someone uses an old database link and tries to sign in to MyEBSCO, they will see an error. This does NOT affect their ability to access content—only their ability to save it to their MyEBSCO account.
  • Update any links for individual EBSCO Databases (Recommended)
    • If you have direct links to an individual EBSCO database (Academic Search Premier, ERIC, CINAHL, APA PsycArticles, etc) in your course materials, we recommend updating them.
    • The easiest way is to grab the latest EBSCO links from the Database A-Z page
    • Non-EBSCO databases are not affected and do not need to be updated.
    • Tip: You can spot an old EBSCO database link if it includes "frederick.idm.oclc.org" in the URL.
  • Help for Students Who See Errors
  • Update EBSCO Article Links in Blackboard if you would like (Optional)
    • If you want to ensure students can save EBSCO articles you have added to your Blackboard course to their MyEBSCO account and don’t receive an error, you may want to update direct EBSCO article links in your courses.
    • You can do this by re-finding the article through FCC Library OneSearch, then copying the new link from your browser’s address bar.
    • Non-EBSCO database links are not affected and would not need to be updated.
