How do I cite statistics in the APA format?

If the statistics you are using are in a published report or article, you will cite the original report or article as usual.

For examples on how to cite:

  • journal articles,  go here
  • newspaper articles, go here
  • government reports, go here

If you are citing statistics (data sets, graphs, infographics) that are not part of a published article, use the following format:

Last name of author, First initial. (Year). Title [Type of source]. Publisher of data if different from author. URL or DOI

For example:

O’Donohue, W. (2017). Content analysis of undergraduate psychology textbooks (ICPSR 21600; Version V1) [Data set]. ICPSR.

American Psychological Association. (2018). HIV criminalization [Infographic].
