How do I cite journal articles using the APA format?

Answer

To cite journal articles in your references list, use this general format:

Last Name of Author, F. M., & Last Name of Author, F. M. (Year). Title of article. Title of Journal, Vol.(Issue), page numbers. DOI (no period at the end)

Hill, R. M., Kaplow, J. B., Oosterhoff, B., & Layne, C. M. (2019). Understanding grief reactions, thwarted belongingness, and suicide ideation in bereaved adolescents: Toward a unifying theory. Journal of Clinical Psychology75(4), 780–793. https://doi-org.ezproxy.frederick.edu/10.1002/jclp.22731

In the APA format, there is no need to reference the library database you used to access the article. If no DOI is available, use a stable URL link (aka a "permalink").
