How do I create a permanent link to an article in NexisUni?
How do I create a link to a NexisUni item that will be available on-campus and off-campus?
Answer
NexisUni works a little differently than some of our other databases, so there are two different ways to make sure you have a good permalink that will work both on-campus and off-campus.
Off-Campus: Once you are on the article page look for the “link” icon at the top of the page, before the text of the article starts, and right under the search bar:
Click on that link icon and it will bring up the permalink URL for that article:
Highlight the link to copy and paste it wherever you need.
On-Campus: You will get to the permalink URL the same way, but will need to add the FCC Ezproxy Prefix for the link to work properly.
This is the Ezproxy prefix:
And here is what the link would look like with the prefix added. The prefix is in orange and the permalink URL is in dark blue:
- https://frederick.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://advance.lexis.com/api/permalink/3afb31a9-6947-4510-8413-5c9441aeb36b/?context=1519360&identityprofileid=XS29C571706
Tip! Combine the URLs using Notepad if you have a PC. This will remove any link formatting and make it much easier to make the changes. Then when you copy the new final URL everything will be combined and linked correctly.
Always check that your new links are working after creating them!
