How do I create a permalink for a CQ Researcher Report?
I am using the Document URL found at the bottom of the report, but it isn't letting me see the full report when I am off-campus. What do I do?
Answer
CQ Researcher works a little differently than some of our other databases, so there are two different ways to make sure you have a good permalink that will work both on-campus and off-campus.
From off-campus: You can use the URL found in the Address Bar for the report
- You must use the off-campus link because when you go to a database from off-campus it runs through our authentication system Ezproxy, which causes the URL to change. When on-campus, the authentication system is by-passed and the URL won't include any of the necessary identifying information for FCC.
From On-Campus: You will need to create a new URL in order to link directly to a CQ Researcher Report.
- The first part of your new URL will be:
- The second part of your new URL will be everything after cqresearcher/ in the address bar URL for the report. The bolded part of the URL below is what you will need:
- Now combine those two parts so the new URL will be:
Tip! Combine the URLs using Notepad if you have a PC. This will remove any link formatting and make it much easier to make the changes. Then when you copy the new final URL everything will be combined and linked correctly.
