For the MLA format, include the following:
Title of Video Game. Name of Director(s), Developer / Publisher, year of publication. Platform.
For example:
Alan Wake II. Directed by Sam Lake and Kyle Rowley, Remedy Entertainment / Epic Games, 2023. Sony PlayStation 5 game.
In-text citation:
(Alan Wake II)
You can also add the version of the game and/or performers if relevant. For example:
Alan Wake II. Directed by Sam Lake and Kyle Rowley, version 1.000.014, Remedy Entertainment / Epic Games, 2023. Sony PlayStation 5 game.
Death Stranding. Directed by Hideo Kojima, performances by Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, Kojima Productions / Sony Interactive Entertainment, 2019. Sony PlayStation 4 game.
For the APA format, video games are cited as software. For citations, include the following:
Developer. (Year of Publication). Title of video game (v. Version number if known) [Video game]. Publisher Name if given. URL if available online.
