Why am I getting a privacy error message when trying to login to the databases from home?

Answer

Sometimes the browser has problems reading the security certificate set-up on the proxy server that allows you to login from off-campus. When that happens you get a privacy error message when trying to access the database.

In the Chrome Browser, to access a database after seeing this error:

  1. Click "Advanced" on the error page
  2. Click on the URL listed under the "Advanced" section

This will bring you to the database.

Don't worry, there shouldn't be any danger when you bypass the privacy error page. The login site is secure, and the database site is secure. The problem is with how the browser is reading our website security certificate.
